Adam Montgomery

Adam Montgomery was born in 1990 and spent much of his early life in Massachusetts. As an adult, he accumulated a criminal record that included violent offences, firearm-related crimes and periods of incarceration before later moving to New Hampshire.

Prosecutors alleged that in December 2019, while living in Manchester, New Hampshire, Montgomery repeatedly struck his five-year-old daughter, Harmony Montgomery, causing fatal injuries.

According to evidence presented at trial, Harmony died inside the family vehicle after enduring prolonged abuse. Rather than reporting her death, Montgomery concealed her body, transported it between several locations over the following months and ultimately disposed of her remains. Despite extensive searches, Harmony's body has never been recovered.

Harmony was not reported missing until late 2021, triggering a major investigation that uncovered evidence of prolonged abuse and concealment.

Montgomery used repeated physical violence against his young daughter before concealing her death.

After Harmony died, prosecutors alleged he transported her body in a stroller, stored it in a freezer and refrigerator, moved it between temporary locations and ultimately disposed of the remains to prevent their discovery.

He also attempted to conceal the crime by misleading investigators and witnesses.

The investigation began after concerns were raised about Harmony's whereabouts in late 2021.

As detectives reconstructed Harmony's final months, evidence established that she had not been seen alive since December 2019. Multiple witnesses described Montgomery's abuse of Harmony and his efforts to conceal her disappearance.

He was arrested and later charged with second-degree murder and numerous related offences.

In February 2024, following a jury trial in New Hampshire, Adam Montgomery was convicted of second-degree murder in the death of Harmony Montgomery.

He was also convicted of second-degree assault, abuse of a corpse, falsifying physical evidence and witness tampering.

The court sentenced Montgomery to a minimum of 56 years in prison, with the murder sentence to be served consecutively to the sentences imposed for the remaining offences.

In June 2026, the New Hampshire Supreme Court overturned Montgomery's second-degree murder conviction and ordered a new trial after identifying legal errors in the original proceedings. His convictions for second-degree assault, abuse of a corpse, falsifying physical evidence and witness tampering remained in effect, and prosecutors announced their intention to retry the murder charge.

Harmony Montgomery's body has never been recovered despite extensive searches.
