Stephanie Hudnall became the focus of a high-profile Oklahoma homicide investigation following the death of her husband, William "Bill" Hudnall, in June 2011. Although she initially claimed he had died from natural causes, investigators uncovered evidence that Bill had been intentionally poisoned. Following a lengthy investigation and trial, Stephanie Hudnall was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Fotis Dulos became the focus of an internationally publicized criminal investigation after his estranged wife, Jennifer Dulos, disappeared from New Canaan, Connecticut, on May 24, 2019. Prosecutors alleged that Dulos murdered Jennifer during a contentious divorce and child custody dispute before attempting to dispose of evidence. He pleaded not guilty to all charges but died by suicide in January 2020 before his trial began. Jennifer Dulos has never been found and is legally presumed dead.

Danny Johnson became one of Columbus, Ohio's most notorious domestic killers after murdering his girlfriend, 46-year-old Cathleen "Kit Kat" Howatt, at a homeless encampment near the Scioto River in April 2016. The killing followed a violent altercation witnessed by nearby residents who had become accustomed to Johnson's abuse of Howatt. Following a jury trial in 2017, Johnson was convicted of murder and sentenced to life imprisonment with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

David Tronnes became one of Florida's most notorious domestic killers after murdering his wife, Shanti Cooper-Tronnes, inside their Orlando home in 2018. Prosecutors alleged Tronnes killed Shanti after their marriage deteriorated amid financial disputes and his obsession with renovating their home for profit. He then attempted to disguise the homicide as an accidental fall during construction work. Following a lengthy investigation and trial, Tronnes was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.

William J. Brock became widely known after fatally shooting 61-year-old Uber driver Lo-Letha Hall outside his home in South Charleston, Ohio, on March 25, 2024. Brock had been deceived by telephone scammers into believing his family was in danger and wrongly concluded Hall was part of the scheme when she arrived to collect a package through the Uber app. A jury rejected Brock's claim of self-defense, finding that Hall was an innocent victim with no knowledge of the scam. Brock was convicted of murder in 2026 and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The Tammi Pointer Killers refers to the group of six offenders responsible for the abduction, prolonged assault, murder, and burning of 18-year-old Alishah "Tammi" Pointer in Gary, Indiana, in October 1990. The offenders acted together throughout the crime, which culminated in Pointer being set on fire while still alive. The case remains one of Indiana's most notorious group murders because of its extreme violence, multiple perpetrators, and the lengthy prison sentences imposed following their convictions.

Brandon Andrew Clark became one of the most notorious killers in recent American criminal history after murdering 17-year-old internet personality Bianca Devins in Utica, New York, on July 14, 2019. The case received worldwide attention after Clark posted graphic photographs of the crime scene on social media, prompting renewed debate about online communities, the rapid spread of violent content, and the responsibilities of social media platforms. Clark later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison.

Ian Rich became known in Ohio criminal history after carrying out a targeted drive-by shooting on Interstate 77 that killed David Perez and seriously wounded Jacqueline Perez on April 28, 2024. Prosecutors alleged Rich deliberately followed the couple from Newburgh Heights before pulling alongside their vehicle and firing multiple gunshots. He later pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter, attempted murder, and firearms offences, receiving a prison sentence of 40 to 46½ years. The case attracted significant attention because of the seemingly unprovoked nature of the attack and subsequent claims regarding Rich's mental health and drug use.
