Harlow Cuadra

Harlow Cuadra was born in 1983 and grew up in the United States. Public information about his childhood and education is limited. As a young adult, he became involved in escort work and later entered the gay adult film industry.

Around 2004, Cuadra met Bryan Kocis, founder of Cobra Video, who signed him to an exclusive contract. Performing under the stage name Cole Tucker, Cuadra quickly became one of Cobra Video's most successful performers. During this period, he also entered into a relationship with Sean Lockhart, who would become internationally known under the stage name Brent Corrigan.

Relations between Cuadra, Lockhart and Kocis deteriorated after disputes arose over Lockhart's age, contractual obligations and future in the adult entertainment industry. Prosecutors later argued that Cuadra viewed Kocis as the principal obstacle preventing him and Lockhart from independently profiting from Lockhart's rapidly growing fame.

By late 2006, Cobra Video had become embroiled in legal disputes over Sean Lockhart's exclusive contract with Bryan Kocis. Prosecutors established that Cuadra and his associate, Joseph Kerekes, devised a plan to eliminate Kocis so they could gain control of Cobra Video and profit from Lockhart's career outside Kocis's control.

On January 24, 2007, Cuadra and Kerekes travelled to Kocis's home in Dallas Township, Pennsylvania. After gaining entry, they attacked Kocis, restraining him before slashing his throat and repeatedly stabbing him. The assault was so violent that Kocis was nearly decapitated.

After the murder, the pair deliberately set fire to the residence in an attempt to destroy forensic evidence and disguise the homicide as an accidental house fire. Firefighters extinguished the blaze and immediately recognised that Kocis had been murdered before the fire was started.

Cuadra and Kerekes planned the murder in advance and used deception to gain access to Kocis's home. Prosecutors argued that financial gain was the primary motive, with the pair believing Kocis's death would remove legal and contractual barriers surrounding Brent Corrigan's career while allowing them to exploit Cobra Video's business interests.

The attack was carried out using knives before the offenders intentionally ignited fires throughout the residence to destroy DNA, fingerprints and other forensic evidence. Although the fire damaged the home, investigators recovered sufficient physical evidence to establish that Kocis had died before the blaze began.

The murder demonstrated considerable planning, combining homicide, arson and subsequent efforts to fraudulently obtain control of Cobra Video through forged documents.

Pennsylvania State Police launched an extensive homicide investigation assisted by local and federal authorities. Detectives examined financial records, telephone communications, business disputes and forensic evidence recovered from the crime scene.

Investigators uncovered evidence linking Cuadra and Kerekes to forged documents intended to transfer ownership of Cobra Video following Kocis's death. DNA evidence, witness testimony and financial records further connected both men to the conspiracy.

Cuadra and Kerekes were arrested later in 2007 and charged with criminal homicide, conspiracy, robbery, burglary, arson and numerous related offences.

Cuadra was tried separately from Joseph Kerekes in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Prosecutors presented extensive forensic and circumstantial evidence demonstrating that the pair planned Kocis's murder for financial gain.

The prosecution detailed the contractual dispute involving Sean Lockhart (Brent Corrigan), the conspiracy to gain control of Cobra Video and the deliberate attempts to destroy evidence after the killing. Jurors also heard evidence concerning forged business documents prepared after Kocis's death.

In April 2011, Cuadra was convicted of first-degree murder, criminal conspiracy, robbery, burglary, arson and related offences.

He was sentenced to mandatory life imprisonment without the possibility of parole, together with additional consecutive prison terms for the remaining convictions.

The murder of Bryan Kocis became one of the most widely publicised crimes in the history of the gay adult film industry. Although Sean Lockhart (Brent Corrigan) was never accused of any involvement in the murder, the legal battle surrounding his exclusive Cobra Video contract formed an important part of the prosecution's motive. Prosecutors argued that Cuadra believed eliminating Kocis would allow him to profit from Lockhart's growing popularity and remove the contractual restrictions imposed by Cobra Video.

The case later inspired the 2016 feature film King Cobra, which dramatizes the dispute surrounding Brent Corrigan's career and the murder of Bryan Kocis. While based on real events, the film condenses timelines and dramatizes aspects of the relationships and investigation.
