Courtney Clenney (Courtney Tailor)

Courtney Taylor Clenney was born in Midland, Texas, in 1996 and later became known publicly by the name Courtney Tailor. She developed a large social-media following and built a career as an online fitness personality and OnlyFans model.

Clenney had millions of followers across social-media platforms and became particularly known for fitness, modelling and subscription-based adult content.

She began dating Christian Obumseli in 2020. Their relationship became increasingly turbulent, with evidence presented during the investigation indicating repeated arguments and incidents of domestic violence involving both Clenney and Obumseli.

In 2022, the couple moved into the One Paraiso condominium complex in Miami's Edgewater neighbourhood.

Clenney's only confirmed killing was the fatal stabbing of Christian Obumseli.

On April 3, 2022, police were called to the couple's Miami condominium following a reported domestic disturbance. Officers found Obumseli suffering from a stab wound.

Obumseli had been stabbed in the chest and was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Clenney told investigators that she had thrown a knife at Obumseli during an altercation and that she had acted in self-defense. The circumstances surrounding the stabbing became the central issue in the subsequent criminal investigation.

Clenney used a kitchen knife during a confrontation with Obumseli inside their Miami condominium.

Clenney maintained that she had thrown the knife from a distance during the confrontation because she believed Obumseli was attacking her.

Prosecutors disputed her account and argued that the fatal wound was inconsistent with the trajectory Clenney described. The medical examiner determined that the injury was a homicide, although that classification referred to the manner of death rather than determining Clenney's criminal responsibility.

The case therefore centred heavily on whether Clenney's actions constituted lawful self-defense or criminally culpable violence.

Police arrested Clenney in August 2022 after she had travelled to Hawaii.

She had initially remained in Miami following the killing, but later entered a rehabilitation facility in Hawaii. Miami-Dade prosecutors obtained a warrant charging her with second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.

Clenney was taken into custody and returned to Florida to face the charge.

She remained incarcerated without bond while the case proceeded through the courts.

Clenney originally pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and maintained that she had killed Obumseli in self-defense.

The case was scheduled to proceed to trial in 2026, but shortly before trial Clenney accepted a plea agreement with prosecutors.

On August 10, 2026, she pleaded guilty to manslaughter with a deadly weapon in connection with Obumseli's death. The plea brought an end to the case without a murder trial.

Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Andrea Ricker Wolfson sentenced Clenney to six years in state prison, with credit for the approximately four years she had already spent in custody. She was also sentenced to five years of probation following her release and must undergo a mental-health evaluation and any required treatment.

Because of the time already served, Clenney is expected to spend approximately two additional years in prison.

The case attracted widespread attention because of Clenney's public profile as an OnlyFans model and social-media personality, as well as the highly disputed circumstances surrounding Obumseli's death.

Clenney and Obumseli's relationship had been volatile. Police had previously been called to incidents involving the couple, and investigators examined allegations of violence and conflict within the relationship.

Clenney's defence consistently maintained that she was responding to an attack by Obumseli and that the stabbing was an act of self-defense. The prosecution disputed that account.

Clenney's original second-degree murder charge carried the possibility of a substantially longer prison sentence. Under the August 2026 plea agreement, however, she accepted responsibility for manslaughter and avoided a murder trial.

The plea agreement was reached in consultation with and with the approval of Obumseli's family. Prosecutors said that Clenney's acceptance of responsibility provided the family with a resolution after more than four years of legal proceedings.

Obumseli's family has continued to dispute Clenney's account of the killing and has publicly maintained that Christian was the victim of a fatal act of violence.

Clenney is now serving the remainder of her six-year sentence and will be subject to five years of probation after her release.
