The Case of Roberta "Kathy" Parks
Roberta "Kathy" Parks, 20, disappeared from Oregon State University in Corvallis on 6 May 1974 while walking to meet friends. Ted Bundy later confessed to abducting and killing her, and her remains were recovered from Taylor Mountain, Washington, in 1975.

Overview / Background
Roberta Kathleen Parks was a student at Oregon State University. Known as Kathy to family and friends, she was originally from Lakewood, Ohio. She had previously attended Diablo Valley College in California before continuing her education at Oregon State. On the evening of 6 May 1974, Kathy left her dormitory in Corvallis to meet friends for coffee at the Memorial Union. She never arrived. Bundy later admitted that he had encountered Kathy near the Oregon State campus and persuaded her to leave with him.
Crime Scene
Kathy's disappearance occurred near Oregon State University's campus in Corvallis. Her remains were subsequently discovered at Taylor Mountain in Washington on 3 March 1975, along with remains belonging to Lynda Ann Healy, Susan Rancourt and Brenda Carol Ball. Her skull and mandible were recovered, with evidence indicating severe blunt-force trauma.
Investigation
Kathy's disappearance was investigated alongside the growing number of young women who vanished during 1974. Bundy eventually confessed to killing her and disposing of her remains at Taylor Mountain. The discovery of her remains in 1975 provided physical confirmation of her death and connected her to the wider series of Bundy murders.
Outcome
Ted Bundy was never separately tried or convicted for Kathy's murder. He confessed to killing her before his execution in 1989. Her remains were identified following their recovery from Taylor Mountain in 1975.
Notes
