The Case of Denise Marie Oliverson

Denise Marie Oliverson, 25, disappeared on 6 April 1975 while cycling home from visiting her parents in Grand Junction, Colorado. Ted Bundy later confessed to abducting and murdering her, but despite searches based on information he provided, Denise's remains have never been recovered.

Denise was a 25-year-old Colorado woman who lived in Grand Junction with her husband. She worked at a local bank and was described as a responsible and well-liked young woman. On the evening of 6 April 1975, Denise visited her parents before beginning the short bicycle ride back to her home. She never arrived. Her bicycle was subsequently found abandoned along the route, prompting an extensive search for her.

Denise's bicycle was discovered near the Colorado River in Grand Junction after her disappearance. Investigators found no body or definitive physical evidence establishing the location where she was murdered. Ted Bundy later confessed that he had abducted Denise and killed her. He provided investigators with information about the disposal of her remains, but searches based on his statements failed to locate her.

Denise's disappearance was investigated by local authorities and later considered alongside other disappearances attributed to Bundy. Bundy's confession eventually established that Denise had been one of his victims. He described abducting her near Grand Junction and disposing of her body in the Colorado River. Despite searches of the river and surrounding areas, Denise's remains were never recovered.

Ted Bundy was never separately tried or convicted for Denise Oliverson's murder. He confessed to killing her before his execution in 1989. Denise remains one of Bundy's identified victims whose remains have never been recovered.

Denise's disappearance was particularly difficult for investigators because her bicycle was recovered but no body was ever found. Her family's search for answers continued after Bundy's execution.
