In the small town of Tipp City, Ohio, 37-year-old beloved coach and mom Ashley Flynn was initially believed to have been killed during a burglary gone wrong after her husband, Caleb Flynn, called 911 reporting a break-in. But as investigators found no sign of an intruder and labeled the crime “targeted,” suspicion shifted, and Ashley’s husband, a former pastor, worship leader, and one-time American Idol contestant, was arrested and charged with her murder. Akon, the singer and philanthropist, was arrested in November 2025 on a bench warrant in the parking lot of a window tint business. The Grammy-nominated artist, whose legal name is Aliaune Akon Thiam, was driving on a suspended license. Akon told the Chamblee Police officers that he thought his warrant for a failure to appear had been addressed. On October 5, 2022, the campus of the University of Arizona in Tucson went into lockdown after beloved department head Dr. Thomas Meixner was shot and killed inside the Harshbarger Building, later telling his attacker, “I knew you were going to do this.” Police identified the suspect as 46-year-old former graduate student Murad Dervish, who had been expelled, banned from campus, and previously accused of threatening staff, and arrested him more than 100 miles away with a 9mm handgun and matching ammunition in his car. Karen Young, 38, faces a child endangering charge after police say she allowed a man living with her to whip her 8-year-old, developmentally challenged son with a belt. Court documents state that Josh Griffin, 33, had been living with Young and the boy for the last three months in Loveland, Ohio. A local tv station reported that a prosecutor told a judge that Griffin whipped the autistic boy on a school bus for "acting out" and that the incident was recorded by surveillance video. Griffin also faces domestic violence and endangering children charges. Newly released bodycam video shows University of Iowa police responding to a late-night fire alarm at the Alpha Delta Phi house on November 15, 2024, where they discovered 56 shirtless pledges covered in muck in what officers described as a “significant hazing event.” As police tried to investigate, a man identifying himself as “Jose,” later identified as Joseph Gaya, allegedly blocked doorways, burped in officers’ faces, hurled a homophobic slur, and attempted to stop them from questioning the frightened pledges. Gaya was arrested and charged with interfering with the investigation, but the charge was later dismissed. The fraternity was ultimately suspended until at least 2029. Deputies in Marathon arrested three people after allegedly finding them engaged in a public sexual act in a Winn-Dixie parking lot, an incident captured on body camera and detailed in an arrest report. One of the suspects, Sharon Czaplinsky, had been arrested just months earlier for a similar incident at a gas station and was again charged with unlawful exposure, disorderly intoxication, and resisting without violence. In the overnight hours of Valentine’s Day, police officers in Union City, Indiana responded to a battery call involving 31-year-old Alicia Hughes and her husband. According to police, Hughes, a school secretary, was allegedly beaten by her husband after she was caught having sex with an 18-year-old student.
