Lawrence "Larry" Rudolph, a prominent Pennsylvania dentist and big-game hunter, murdered his wife, Bianca Rudolph, while the couple were on a safari in Zambia in October 2016. Rudolph claimed Bianca accidentally shot herself while packing a shotgun before a hunting trip, and her death was initially ruled accidental. A lengthy international investigation later concluded that Rudolph deliberately shot Bianca to collect millions of dollars in life insurance and pursue a long-term extramarital relationship. In 2022, a federal jury convicted him of foreign murder and mail fraud, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder together with an additional term for fraud.

Leo Boatman became notorious after carrying out a deadly stabbing attack on Bournemouth beach in England in 2024. The case generated major media attention across the United Kingdom because the killings occurred in a busy public coastal area during the evening, creating widespread panic and horror among witnesses. Boatman’s violent behavior, criminal background and apparent disregard for human life later became central issues throughout the investigation and court proceedings. The murders reignited public debate surrounding violent repeat offenders, knife crime and public safety in British coastal nightlife areas.

Leslie Louise Van Houten was a member of Charles Manson's Family who participated in the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca during the second night of the infamous Manson Family killings in August 1969. Under Manson's direction, she joined Charles "Tex" Watson and Patricia Krenwinkel in attacking the LaBiancas inside their Los Feliz home. Lindsey Robert Rose is an Australian serial killer who murdered five people in New South Wales between 1984 and 1994. His victims included acquaintances and vulnerable individuals who were killed over a ten-year period before advances in forensic science and renewed investigations linked Rose to the crimes. Following his conviction, he was sentenced to five terms of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole and remains incarcerated.

Lori Norene Vallow Daybell became one of the most notorious criminal defendants in the United States after her two youngest children, Joshua "JJ" Vallow and Tylee Ryan, disappeared in Idaho in 2019. Their remains were discovered buried on the property of Vallow Daybell's fifth husband, Chad Daybell, in June 2020. Vallow Daybell was convicted in Idaho in 2023 of murdering both children and conspiring to murder Tammy Daybell, Chad's first wife, and was sentenced to three consecutive life terms without parole. She was subsequently extradited to Arizona, where she was convicted in 2025 of conspiring to murder her fourth husband, Charles Vallow, and her niece's former husband, Brandon Boudreaux. She received two additional consecutive life sentences with the possibility of parole after 25 years.

Luigi Mangione became internationally known after being accused of assassinating a major American healthcare executive in New York City in 2024. The killing shocked the United States not only because of the high-profile target, but also because authorities alleged the attack was ideologically motivated and carefully planned. Following his arrest, Mangione rapidly became one of the most discussed criminal figures in modern America. Lyle Menendez became one of the most infamous figures in American true crime history after he and his younger brother, Erik Menendez, were convicted of murdering their wealthy parents inside their Beverly Hills mansion in 1989. The shocking nature of the killings, combined with the family’s image of wealth and privilege, turned the case into a global media obsession throughout the 1990s. Lyle was portrayed by prosecutors as manipulative, arrogant and motivated by greed, while the defense argued he was a deeply traumatised son shaped by years of alleged emotional, physical and sexual abuse inside the Menendez household. Decades later, the Menendez brothers case remains one of the most debated family murder cases in American criminal history.

Mario Schembri is an Australian convicted killer who pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Melbourne businessman Herman Rockefeller in January 2010. After a violent confrontation at Schembri's Hadfield home, Rockefeller died from injuries sustained during the assault. Schembri subsequently dismembered the victim's body with a chainsaw and burned the remains in an attempt to conceal the crime. He was sentenced to nine years' imprisonment with a non-parole period of seven years.
