The murder of Tommy Boling occurred at a pivotal moment in John Wayne Gacy’s killing spree. By late 1977, the crawl space beneath his home was nearing capacity, placing pressure on his long-established disposal method. Despite this limitation, Gacy continued to operate without hesitation, demonstrating a level of overconfidence and routine behavior that ignored the increasing risks around him.
Boling was lured to Gacy’s residence, restrained using the established ‘handcuff trick,’ and murdered, most likely through strangulation. Despite the crawl space being overcrowded, Gacy still buried Boling beneath his home, continuing his routine method of disposal.
No immediate leads connected Boling’s disappearance to Gacy. The case remained unresolved until 1978.
