Leo Ryan Assassination Jonestown Jim Jones

U.S. Congressman Leo Ryan was assassinated at an airstrip in Guyana while investigating conditions at Jonestown. The attack was carried out by members of the Peoples Temple under the direction of Jim Jones. The killing escalated the situation into an international crisis.

Armed members of the Peoples Temple opened fire on the group at the airstrip. Multiple victims were killed and injured.

Investigators later confirmed the attack was ordered by Jim Jones.
