YNW Melly, the rapper accused of killing his two childhood friends in 2018, is set to face retrial for double first-degree murder this September after his 2023 trial ended in a mistrial. Despite changes in both the prosecution and defense teams — and unresolved appeals about key evidence — the judge has denied the state's request for a delay. Melly, who has been jailed since 2019 and now also faces a witness tampering charge, could receive life in prison or the death penalty if convicted.
