This case brings us to Rowlett Texas, November of 2015. The seemingly perfect couple, Laura Grillo and Ioannis AKA “John” Makris were preparing to tie the knot! They were due to be married in just over a week. This would never happen... Laura, a mother of 3, would be found deceased on her kitchen floor with one .45 caliber bullet casing next to her... Of course during a homicide investigation, detectives try and rule out those closest to the victim, and Ioannis actually arrived on the scene shortly after the police. Police initially thought it was very odd the lack of emotion shown from Makris. But as the investigation continued, they lacked the evidence to charge anyone for the murder of Laura Grillo... Well that would all change in late December of 2015 as detectives started to peel back the layers. After obtaining warrants for the phone records of Markis two employees, Jesus Trevino and James Villeda, they learned that on the morning of the murder, while Makris was heading into Dallas, James and Jesus were heading into Rowlett... When Detectives learned that Jesus Tevino was already a convicted SO and Felon that was here illegally, they put out a warrant for his arrest... Jesus was nowhere to be found. They tracked down an ex girlfriend of his in Denver, CO and what she told detectives changed the course of this case. When questioned, she said that Jesus told her his boss hired him to kill his wife for $15,000 MONTHS before the murder took place. In fact, Trevino had told SEVERAL people about this... Jesus was not a smart criminal by any stretch of the imagination... James Villeda, the driver during the murder, testified against Makris and Trevino in exchange for a 25 year plea deal. In the end, John Makris would receive life in prison with no possibility for parole for hiring Jesus and James to kill his wife Laura Grillo. Why he did it, is all up to speculation, and I won’t get into that because I just don’t know... Is there ever a good reason to kill or have someone killed? RARELY! In February of 2019, it took jurors less than 45 minutes to come to a verdict in the capital murder trial of Jesus Trevino...
