He hit a pedestrian (Joe Boever) with his vehicle on the evening of September 12th 2020. Joe was walking along the side of the highway, because his own vehicle had broken down. Ravnsborg was ultimately impeached from his position as AG in early 2021 by his peers stemming from the fatal accident. He was charged with 3 misdemeanors; careless driving, driving out of his lane, and operating a car while using a cellphone. Ravnsborg pleaded no contest to driving out of his lane and operating a car while using a cellphone; the careless driving charge was dismissed.
