Epipo, a Hungarian summer camp in the 1980s, offered children a seemingly magical escape, a world of secret languages and imagined realities, starkly different from the rigid socialist environment outside. Attendees believed themselves to be a select group, part of an elite community, where achieving recognition like the "bear cap" was a celebrated accomplishment. Yet, beneath the surface of enchanting games and fantasies, a more sinister dynamic was at play. What started as innocent play gradually revealed a darker side, as the charismatic camp leader, Sipos, engaged in psychological manipulation, unusual rituals, and unsettling "punishments." This film explores the profound and lasting impact of these experiences on the former campers' adult lives, chronicling their journey to confront buried memories and break a 25-year silence. It delves into how a place that promised ultimate freedom became a source of deep-seated trauma for many, highlighting the blurred lines between youthful escapism, unchecked power, and abuse.
