On January 18th, 2022, a police officer from the Portage Police Department was summoned to the department's lobby to address a complaint. The communication center informed the officer that the complainant intended to surrender their 20 year old daughter, Iyanna Colon, due to an existing traffic-related warrant. Upon arrival, the officer found Iyanna and her parents in the lobby. Iyanna's father signaled their desire to speak privately with the officer. The family was escorted to a conference room. There, Iyanna's father handed the officer a note with an address, expressing urgent concern for the welfare of the individual residing there and suggesting the possibility that the person might be deceased. The officer inquired with Iyanna about her reasons for suspecting the individual's demise, to which she confessed that she and the apartment's occupant, a recent acquaintance, had an altercation the previous day. During the incident, she blacked out and began choking him until he ceased breathing. Officers promptly headed to the provided address, but despite persistent knocking, received no response. Given Iyanna's account, they concluded it was imperative to enter and ascertain the occupant's safety. Inside, after announcing themselves repeatedly to no reply, they discovered a male figure lying on his back on a closet floor, concealed by blankets and coats. It was ascertained that the individual was deceased due to evident rigor mortis. The scene was secured, and a search warrant was procured. Back at the station, the investigative process commenced with the questioning of Iyanna. Voice over by Quientin Olwell: https://quentinolwell.com/ Business Inquiries: interrogationfiles@gmail.com
