But the crazy thing is, he also admitted to claiming as many as 100 people since then. Richard was known to imitate a security guard, and he would usually approach his victims in the parking lots of shopping malls, accusing the victim of shoplifting. After he caught them off guard, he would begin his crime. We don’t know why Richard suddenly had this change of heart, but many of the victim’s families are certainly thankful that he did. Most recently, he admitted to claiming the life of Diane Cusick, a young woman who was kidnapped from the Green Acres Mall decades ago. This true crime documentary from 2023 will give you chills.
