The unknown female could not be identified, so investigators labeled her as a Jane Doe, and she would remain that way for nearly 15 years. But in January of 2023, the Yakima County Coroner was finally able to positively identify the remains as Daisy Heath, also known as Daisy Tallman. Her DNA was retrieved in 2008, but technology at the time didn’t allow detectives to determine her identity. But in 2022, her DNA was tested again using new methods, and investigators were finally able to track down her family by creating a DNA profile of the woman. Daisy had last been seen all the way back in 1987, and she was reported missing two months after her disappearance. The coroner was able to determine what led to Daisy’s untimely passing, but her family say she had been mourning the loss of her infant child and her grandmother, so it’s possible she took her own life.
