The real life horror story started when an unusual number of dialysis patients were having medical emergencies and dying. As state health investigators and police looked into the situation, it became clear they were dealing with a disturbing true crime story and a real life murder mystery. As they continued to dig into the case, they found an even more shocking true crime case than they'd imagined with an extensive number of victims. The unbelievable true crime story kept coming back to one nurse who was always on duty when patients had sudden, extreme complications. Investigators conducted a full police interrogation with the woman at the heart of the twisted true crime story. In the end, the full police interview, eyewitness testimony, and survivors' testimony lead them to a female serial killer nurse who was "angel of death" and an unexpected killer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In spring 2008, DaVita's Lufkin clinic identified an unusual number of dialysis patients becoming seriously ill and dying. When patients Thelma Metcalf and Clara Strange suddenly died of cardiac arrest on April 1, DaVita launched an investigation. When the issues continued, Texas state health inspectors came to the facility. After Marva Rhone and Carolyn Risinger both experienced extreme drops in blood pressure, fellow patients Linda Hall and Lurlene Hamilton reported having seen a nurse injecting bleach into the dialysis lines. The nurse was identified as Kimberly Saenz. Syringes and a bucket Saenz was using tested positive for bleach. Police were called in to investigate further. Police identified a number of potential victims who had passed away, including: Clara Strange, Thelma Metcalf, Garlin Kelley, Cora Bryant, and Opal Few. They also looked at medical emergencies experienced by: Graciela Castaneda, Marie Bradley, Debra Oates, Marva Rhone, Carolyn Risinger. Detectives soon established that Saenz had been working at the time of the unusual deaths and medical emergencies. Her co-worker also reported that, when Saenz announced she didn't like a patient, the person often had a medical emergency or died soon after.
