It was Christmas Eve, 2021, but things were far from merry and bright for police in a suburban Georgia community. At around 5:32 p.m., officers received an overwhelming number of 9-1-1 calls from a local apartment complex. Neighbors reported hearing multiple gunshots, but nothing could have prepared authorities for what they found at the scene. Inside an apartment belonging to a 41-year-old woman, what had started as a holiday gathering had suddenly turned violent. While preparing Christmas dinner, she and her 51-year-old spouse became involved in a heated argument… one that allegedly escalated when the older woman grabbed a firearm and opened fire. The gunfire didn’t just target her partner, but also three other relatives inside the apartment: two adult daughters and another family member who had joined the celebration.
