On New Year's Eve 2013, 27-year-old Sarah Vercauteren brutally beat her mother Dawn Wagner to death with her young son in the next room. Vercauteren fled the scene with her little boy. Police thought the pair might have been kidnapped... until they learned that Vercauteren had been caught trying to rob a bank. When investigators questioned her about the murder, Sarah Vercauteren claimed two men had killed her mother and forced her to withdraw money from an ATM for them. Discovering evidence that pointed to this being a lie, police confronted the young woman again, demanding that she tell them what really happened to Dawn...
