Police launched a huge investigation into this shocking true crime case, identifying a range of suspects but couldn't tie any of them to the twisted murders. Ultimately the case went cold for a decade. Detectives never gave up on solving the disturbing true crime story. Through an important tip and a string of full police interviews, they uncovered a real life horror story about how fatal attraction turned to murder planned out by an unexpected killer. At trial, the stories that had been put out in the police interrogations kept changing, leaving the jury to figure out if they were dealing with a psychopath working their latest manipulation or a potential wrongful conviction. In the end, all the twists and turns in the case made this one of the most interesting and challenging true crime cases the investigators and prosecutors had ever encountered. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In February 1993, veterinarian Joseph Wellnitz, his wife Beth, and their son Dennis were shot to death in their home in Columbia, Kentucky. Evidence at the scene indicated that the Wellnitz family had been killed by someone close to them in a targeted hit. Detectives looked at a number of suspects, including Joseph and Beth's daughter Meg Wellnitz and her then boyfriend Bill Meece, but no one could be linked to the crimes. Eventually, the case went cold. A decade later, Bill Meece’s estranged wife, Regina provided a shocking new tip... She claimed Meece had carried out the killings for Meg so she could collect a six-figure life insurance payout. The story checked out and Meg Wellnitz and Bill Meece were arrested. Bill Meece made a plea deal which included him giving details about how he committed the murders. Meg Wellnitz also pled guilty and was sentenced to life in prison with parole. In 2005, Bill Meece withdrew his plea, citing conflict with his attorneys, and took his case to trial. After Meg Wellnitz testifies, Meece takes the stand in his own defense... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Channel Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes to help understand police interrogation techniques and understand the mind of a murderer.
