The unbelievable true crime case started with the horrifying murder of a teen in Idaho. Police investigated the real life horror story, but couldn't get a lead and the case went cold. The following year, they finally got a break in the shocking true crime story. They conducted a series of full police interviews, honing in on a suspect, who confessed and was convicted for the murder. Years later, the case turned out to be an even more twisted true crime story when The Innocence Project proved there was a false confession and a wrongful conviction. The man who was convicted was exonerated and police were back at square one. They reopened the disturbing true crime case, using genetic genealogy to try to hone in on a new suspect. Through a series of full police interrogations, they discovered an unexpected killer - and psychopath hiding in plain sight. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On June 13, 1996, Angie Dodge was found stabbed to death in her Idaho Falls apartment. Police launched a homicide investigation, soon learning that the 18-year-old had been assaulted before her death. Investigators zeroed in on suspect Chris Tapp, who was convicted of aiding and abetting Dodge's rape and murder and sentenced to a minimum of 30 years in prison. Tapp recanted his confession, and in 2019 he was exonerated and declared an innocent man. Investigators re-opened the case and tested DNA from the crime scene against genetic genealogy databases to try to find someone related to the person that left the DNA. After a few dead ends, in 2019, the DNA search provided police with a possible suspect named Brian Dripps Sr. When they learn Dripps had lived across the street from Angie Dodge at the time of her murder, investigators bring him in for an interview… ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Channel Disclaimer: This video is for educational purposes to help understand police interrogation techniques and understand the mind of a murderer.
