Her body was not hidden, she was not wearing any clothes, and she was stabbed multiple times, strangled and her throat was slashed... It was almost like the killer(s) wanted her to be found that way... Well, Kaytlin Root took a photo on the night of her murder... She got a shot of her killers. The investigation quickly led detectives to 17-year-old Amanda Bennett and her boyfriend 18-year-old Sebastian Dowell. Sebastian has already spoken to police just a few days before, he requested a lawyer, then decided he wanted to talk... Now, just two days later, he wants to talk again to tell the WHOLE truth... (SPOILERS BELOW) - Further digital forensics revealed that Amanda Bennett and Sebastian Dowell used Facebook Messenger to contact multiple people to "hang out" on the evening of October 15, 2016. Kaytlin Root was ultimately the only person who responded to the messages. Bennett lured Kaytlin to meet them, knowing in advance that Sebastian Dowell intended to kill her. Sebastian Dowell pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. He was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He will be eligible for parole in 2042 Amanda Bennett, just turning 17-years-old, was certified to be tried as an adult. She eventually pleaded guilty to second-degree murder to avoid elevated first-degree murder charges and potential sentence enhancements. On May 9, 2017, Amanda Bennett received a life sentenced in prison for the murder. She will be eligible for parole in 2042. Under Missouri law, an inmate convicted of second-degree murder and sentenced to life must serve a minimum of 85% of their sentence—or roughly 25 years—before becoming eligible to be considered for parole.
