Where on March 10, 2024, just after 11 a.m., the Grant County New Mexico Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a non-responsive child at a property on Quail Run Road in Silver City, New Mexico. The child, 5 year old Xaqueline Bynum, who had just celebrated her 5th birthday the day before, was found UNDER her father, and unresponsive. Tragically, Xaqueline was rushed to the hospital for care, but did not survive. Her mother, 34-year-old Music Adame, and father 38-year-old Matthew Bynum were taken into custody at the scene. This is Music Adame's interrogation, Matthew did not speak to police after his arrest. (SPOILERS BELOW) Music Adame is facing first-degree felony of intentional abuse of a child resulting in death, the second-degree felony of subsequent abuse of a child, and the third-degree felony of child abuse. The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning due to them heating their tiny house with coal and not having proper ventilation... She had an arraignment hearing on March 31, 2025... Adame and Bynum have been released on bail. Adame's trial is set for January 2026, and Bynum's trial is set for March 2026. There has been a lawsuit filed against the Children, Youth And Families Department in connection with Xaqueline Bynum's death. According to the arrest affidavit, there were 6 reports made to CYFD with concerns of neglect, emotional abuse, and the home not b3eing sanitary... Among other things. That is ongoing as well.
