Melissa was stolen from her home when she was only 1-year-old, stolen by a woman who claimed to be her babysitter. The Highsmith family had only recently moved into their new home in Texas when Melissa’s mother placed an ad in the paper looking for a babysitter. Melissa’s mother hired a woman who responded to the ad, with the babysitter picking the infant up on the afternoon of August 23rd. This was the last time Melissa was seen for decades. As it would turn out, Melissa was finally found after she’d taken part in a 23andMe test - having no idea that she’d been missing for all these years.
