A short while later, police found another young boy who vaguely resembled her son, then forced the woman to raise the boy - insisting he was her son, even though she pleaded with officers and insisted she’d never met the boy a day in her life. Lessie Dunbar took a trip to Swayze Lake, Louisiana, when she lost her son, Bobby. After an eight month statewide search, officers found Bobby in the custody of a man named William Walters. Walters claimed that Bobby’s name was actually Bruce, who was this nephew. However, Bruce had the same unique scar and mole that Bobby had. Even though locals corroborated Walters’ story, he was arrested for kidnapping. The boy’s parents lost custody of him, and Walters went to jail. The boy grew up as Bobby Dunbar, and had children and grandchildren in the family. Then, in the early 2000s, his granddaughter, determined to find the truth of the matter, had her DNA tested against Bobby’s nephew. It was not a match. meaning the man who lived as Bobby Dunbar has been Bruce Anderson all along. This true crime documentary from 2023 will give you chills.
