WATCH: https://youtu.be/TaTGUTzxTVk An Hour To Kill Episode 13 - Marlon Keith Smith In this episode of An Hour to Kill, a quiet town in Louisiana becomes the backdrop for one of the most calculated betrayals imaginable a case that begins with a missing person report and unravels into something far darker. Marlin Keith Smith was a well-liked mechanic in Dry Prong, Louisiana, a community of fewer than 500 people where neighbors borrow tools without hesitation and everyone knows everyone. For years, Keith had remained single while caring for his elderly mother Barbara. In fall 2003, he met Betty Ann Findlay at a local bar and the two quickly fell into a relationship. By February 2004, Betty had moved in. What Keith didn't know was that Betty had a prior conviction for identity fraud and that her old habits had never truly gone away. Nine months after Betty moved in, Keith's uncle Billy reported him missing. Betty had a ready explanation: Keith had taken a construction job in New Mexico. But Billy's unease never faded. Around the same time, Barbara began falling mysteriously ill slurring her words, struggling to walk, improving at the hospital and deteriorating again at home. A toxicology screen revealed high levels of opiates in her system that none of her medications could explain. Her checkbook told another story: someone had been forging her signature and stealing her money. When police pulled Betty's phone records, there were no calls from New Mexico she had lied. A tip led investigators to a suspicious hole in Betty's backyard. Bloody pillowcases had been seen leaving the property. On December 7, 2004, Betty was arrested on 16 counts of forgery. With Betty in custody, the search for Keith intensified. Her sister Janet urged her to stop lying, and Betty passed her a set of smuggled keys to a storage unit rented under a false name. When investigators opened unit 124, they found what remained of Marlin Keith Smith. Betty gave multiple conflicting accounts, first blaming a former boyfriend a claim quickly disproved before eventually confessing to a version of events investigators found difficult to reconcile with the physical evidence. Betty Ann Findlay was convicted of second-degree murder, attempted murder through poisoning, fraud, and obstruction of justice. She was sentenced to 48 years of hard labor. Her appeal was denied. For Barbara and Keith's family, the loss was devastating. He had spent years caring for his mother, only to be betrayed by the person he had welcomed into their home. #KillerCrime #FullFreeMovies #AnHourToKill #MarlonKeithSmith #TrueCrime #LouisianaCrime #USACrime Welcome to ‘Killer’ Crime, where we delve into the intriguing world of crime.
