John Haven thought he was heading over to do another small favor for his girlfriend’s mother. Instead, he was asked to help dispose of a body. The victim, Bonnie Vaughan’s husband, had been shot four times in the torso, possibly while trying to defend himself. Bonnie claimed there was a history of domestic violence, and investigators did find injuries that seemed to support part of her story. But text messages, shifting timelines, conveniently disabled security cameras, and multiple provable lies began to paint a different picture, one detectives believed pointed to something far more calculated than a sudden act of fear.
