Zacharie Borton had already spent most of his life behind bars when he found himself hiding out in a small Michigan home with three elderly biker associates. All four were using meth, and paranoia quickly poisoned the night. One of the men became convinced Borton was hiding a woman in his room. Confrontations escalated in the cramped, dimly lit house, and fearing he was about to be attacked, Borton opened fire. Only after the chaos stopped did he realize what had happened—and he fled into the night as detectives pieced together what took place.
