The real life thriller started on Christmas Day 2023, when Amanda drove to a Florida Walgreens to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Thomas for a custody exchange of their 11-month-old. Amanda had her other children in the car with her. Minutes after Thomas arrived with one of his other girlfriends, Anna, police received reports of a shooting. By the time officer arrived on scene, Anna had been shot to death and Thomas had gunshot wounds. Detectives launched a homicide investigation into the real life murder mystery. When investigators questioned Thomas and conducted full police interviews with witnesses at the scene, they claimed that Amanda had stepped out of her car, walked toward Thomas and Anna's car, and started shooting.
