#interrogation #truecrime #documentary #NoBS In Today's No BS Interrogation, we take a look at a case out of Okeechobee, Florida from back in 2019. On April 19, 2019, Okeechobee Sheriff's deputies find a body deceased in a front yard on NW 192nd Avenue in Okeechobee. The body was that of 40-Year-Old Jennifer Benson-Hughes, who was also known as "Prairie Jen." She was a well respected biologist at Kissimmee Prairie Preserve State Park. It was clear to responding officers that this was a homicide... But who could have done this? Well... Jennifer was married... To 34-Year-Old Kevin Hughes. Kevin claims that Jennifer lured him out to their shed, and ambushed him... He says she tried to strangle him with some kind of a cord... He was able to turn the tables, and put her in a chokehold... He choked her until she eventually passed away... Of course detectives want to talk more about this, so Kevin is brought down to the station for questioning... This is his full interrogation. (SPOILERS BELOW) Kevin's defense throughout the trial was that he acted in self-defense... That plan did not work out... On December 12, 2022, Kevin Hughes was sentenced to life in prison after being convicted of first-degree murder. Following the murder, a custody dispute arose in regards to the couple's 4-year-old son. Despite being accused and of course later convicted of the murder, Florida law at the time allowed Kevin Hughes to retain full parental rights until they were officially terminated. This allowed him to decide who would be in care of the child during this process... He chose his own parents. Jennifer Hughes' parents fought this, and expressed that the situation was heartbreaking and felt the child should not be with Kevin's parents. There was an ongoing family court case regarding the child's custody, but those records were not made public, and at this point we are unsure the outcome...
