On November 20th, 2019, at 1:39 AM, the Michigan State Police received reports of a man down in the roadway on Cobb and Mable Streets. When responding officers arrived, what they found wasn’t a drunk man collapsed on the ground — but a 54-year-old man fighting for his life, surrounded by .45 caliber shell casings. Although paramedics and first responders tried to resuscitate him, his injuries were fatal — two gunshot wounds to the head and one in the chest. And finding the likely killer proved to be easier than imagined, because just days after an investigation was launched, cops received an anonymous tip. According to this individual, the murderer was an ex-convict who had served time in federal prison for multiple firearm-related offenses.
