Jessica Harmes and her live-in boyfriend, Daniel Fivas, each face one count of child torture in Salt Lake County, Utah. The charge stems from allegations the couple neglected Fivas' biological, five-year-old daughter. West Valley Police said the little girl weighed as much as a 16-month-old child when Fivas took her to the hospital on August 30. Police said the girl cannot talk and hasn't been in school. A probable cause affidavit said Fivas accused the girl of stealing food and resented her so they locked the refrigerator and trash to keep her from eating. A well-known Batavia, Illinois chiropractor, Dr. David Hanson, once celebrated as a trusted family doctor and community member, is now accused of secretly recording more than 180 patients, including children as young as three, inside his office. Prosecutors allege Hanson hid cameras in treatment rooms, capturing patients while they were unclothed, and was later found with unrelated videos of child sexual abuse material. He now faces multiple counts of child pornography production, possession, and unauthorized recording, and is being held without bond as authorities search for additional potential victims. Zachary Sarrach, 17, faces felony charges for allegedly firing a gun during a physical altercation at a homecoming bonfire party. The incident happened in September. The death of 24-year-old Erica Bader remains a mystery after her body was found in a wooded area of Pawtucket, Rhode Island, a location police say she was moved to after dying elsewhere. Bodycam footage shows the moment a New Mexico man was arrested in connection with a bust with an estimated worth of $1 million, according to police. An officer with the Albuquerque Police Department knocked on a hotel room door after a check of a vehicle in the parking lot alerted him that the owner had an arrest warrant for robbery. That’s when 28-year-old Xavier Garcia answered, but police were looking for 24-year-old Merena Perez. Perez quickly came to the door and was taken into custody, but it was too late. Prosecutors in South Carolina are pushing for all nine teens accused in the murder of 16-year-old Trey Wright to be tried as adults, including a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old. Investigators say Wright’s girlfriend, Gianna Kirstenmacher, orchestrated the deadly encounter fueled by social media messages, while 19-year-old Devan Raper allegedly pulled the trigger. Even though Raper remains in jail, most of the other suspects have been released on bond, as prosecutors prepare to argue that under state law, everyone involved can be held equally responsible for Wright’s death.
