When a murder witness comes forward (2022)
In this JCS Inspired video, we cover the interview of a frightened witness who has evidence about the murder of her friend who was killed during a drug deal. On January 9, 2017, 40-year-old Mary Gray went to the Holton Street apartment complex to buy cocaine from Rickey Stephens, a known drug dealer. Stephens was alerted by another person that Gray was an informant, and he then fatally shot her. Gray was a confidential informant for the police, although she was not working the night of her murder. Gray suffered from worsening mental health problems and was beginning to rely more and more heavily on drugs to help her cope. It has been suspected that the motivation for her death stemmed from a desire for retaliation for giving the police a list of known drug dealers. Trying to hide that you are the murderer (2022)
In this JCS Inspired case, you're going to see the interview of a man who r*ped, beat, and decap*tated a young Asian woman he had lured into his car. On June 9, 2017, Yingying Zhang was traveling off-campus to an apartment complex where she was planning on signing a new lease. She was running late and messaged the agent what time she should be able to arrive. There was a mix-up when she tried to transfer buses, and she ended up missing the one she needed to take. She tried to catch another one by walking a few blocks to the next stop. Later, security footage shows a vehicle circling Zhang and then stopping. She is shown speaking to the driver before getting into the car. The driver was Brendt Christensen, who was impersonating a police officer with Zhang. This was not his first time doing so. He had previously tried to lure graduate student Emily Hogan into his car, but she refused and later reported the incident. Zhang was not so lucky. Christensen took her back to his apartment, where he choked, r*ped, and stabbed her before beating her to death with a baseball bat and decapitating her. As always, we'll also find a bit about the psychology behind the interrogation and what is most likely happening in the mind of the suspect. This is the interrogation of Brendt Christensen. Police Interrogate Teens Who Murdered Football Star Classmate (2022)
This JCS Inspired video shows the interrogations of two teens suspected in the death of a high school football star. On February 24, 2020, Ashton Riggs and Gaven smith were hanging out together, in spite of being ordered by a judge to avoid contact with each other. Both teens had been in trouble over various charges concerning drugs and guns, but their previous encounters weren't enough for them to change their path. It was especially hard for Smith, who had been using drugs since the age of nine, and who, by his own admission, was high most of the time. Trent Fort was a valued member of the football team, and usually didn't run in the same circles as Riggs and Smith. It is unclear whether Fort was there that night to procure drugs for himself, or if he was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Whatever his reason for being there, Fort ended up being shot--even though he was carrying no weapon himself, and there was no indication he was a danger to Riggs and Smith. As always, we'll also find a bit about the psychology behind the interrogation and what is most likely happening in the mind of the suspect.
