Former Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines was in court Thursday as a special judge was set to consider a list of pending motions in his murder trial for the shooting death of Judge Kevin Mullins. The Commonwealth has asked for a change of venue and Stines was hoping to be granted bail. But special Judge Christopher Cohron adjourned the hearing just as it began only saying that it was important that the case was handled correctly. A 41-year-old Ohio mother of three, Michaela Medek, was initially believed to have died from sudden cardiac arrest after her husband found her unresponsive at home, and detectives first reported no signs of foul play. The cause and manner of death for Christopher Scholtes have been determined by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner's Office. Scholtes was scheduled to surrender to court officials in Pima County in November after pleading guilty to second-degree murder in the death of his daughter, Parker. Parker died in July 2024 after Scholtes left her in a hot car in their driveway. But on November 5, Scholtes failed to appear for a scheduled court appearance. His wife and the family's nanny found him in the garage of their home with the car running, according to an autopsy report. A late-night DoorDash order in Indiana turned dangerous when a couple fell violently ill and discovered doorbell video showing their delivery driver spraying a substance on their food. Investigators identified the driver as 29-year-old Kourtney Stevenson, who admitted using pepper spray but claimed she was trying to kill a spider, an explanation detectives say didn’t add up.
