Today’s true crime case takes us to October 4th 2023 when the FBI contacted Essex Police to alert them about an imminent threat to life. They had become aware that a man was planning to kidnap, rape and kill a well known celebrity in the UK, Holly Willoughby a popular tv presenter. Within an hour the Police raided a home in the town of Harlow. They didn’t knock on the door, they put it in with a battering ram because they were aware that the man inside the property was dangerous and, if given enough time, would destroy vital evidence. As soon as they got into the property the occupant, 37 year old Gavin Plumb was arrested. When the Police began investigating, they realised that Plumb was not a fantasist, he was a man who had a history of abusing and targeting women and had spent years fantasing, discussing and preparing for the horrific crimes he was desperate to commit. The evidence they recovered included a video of Plumb filming the kit that he was going to use to abduct and rape Holly. However, this is just the tip of the iceberg of the depravity of Gavin Plumb, a dangerous sadistic sexual predator who should never be released from prison. Today’s true crime video takes us to Monday 5th May 1997 when 8 year old Jamie Lavis left his home in Greater Manchester in England to play with his friends. He was caught on CCTV that morning at a nearby bus station but then Jamie vanished and he would never be seen alive again. The community rallied around the family and one man, a bus driver called Darren Vickers, quickly came forward to say that was the last person to see Jamie before he disappeared. Vickers put himself right in the middle of the investigation including leading repeated searches for Jamie and making multiple TV and radio appearances but far more insidious that that was him ingratiating himself into the Lavis family home including eventually moving in. Little did Jamie’s parents know that they were sharing a home with the man who was responsible for their son’s disappearance and his murder. Today’s true crime case takes us back to 1990s and the Cabrini-Green Housing complex, a sprawling mass of 23 high rise towers for low-income families on the North side of Chicago Illinois which s was considered one of the most dangerous areas of public housing in the entire united states. But, on the morning of January 9, 1997 a crime was discovered which shocked even hardened detectives used to dealing with gang murders, serious violence, drugs and prostitution on a daily basis. A 9 year old girl was found in a high rise stairwell raped and beaten so badly that she was barely clinging to life. She had gang symbols scrawled on her tiny body and her attacker had poured cockroach poison down her throat. The subject of today’s video, Amarjeet Sada is an Indian national who is believed to the youngest serial killer in modern history with him having murdered 3 children between 2006 and 2007 when he was just 7 and 8 years old. All of his victims were babies, none more than 12 months old. This case is horrific not only because of the crimes of Sada but the fact that, despite killing his cousin and his little sister, his family covered this up allowing him to roam around his village and snatch a third child who he strangled and whose body he mutilated by caving her head in with a brick. Sada was a remorseless killer who smiled and seemed amused when telling the Police about what he had done. He was described by a psychologist at the time as a "sadist who derives pleasure from inflicting injuries". The terrifying thing is that Sada never spent a day in prison and this dangerous child, now inevitably a dangerous man, is somewhere in the world living under an assumed name. Today’s true crime case takes us to 2015 when Judy Malinowski was a 31 year old mother of 2 who had not had an easy life, she had beaten cancer twice but had developed an addiction to opiates. She was vulnerable and this made her a perfect target for a dangerous extremely violent domestic abuser called Michael Slager. He used drugs to control Judy and expected absolute compliance from her in the relationship. Refusal was not an option, and he was willing to kill those who defied him. On August 5th, around 11 weeks after the relationship began the pair had an argument at a petrol station, Judy threw a cup of soda at Slager and he responded by dousing her in petrol and setting her on fire all of which was caught on camera. This resulted in Judy suffering burns to over 80% of her body. Judy defied the doctors’ expectations and survived for almost 2 years, fighting every day, often in excruciating pain, due to her determination to see the man who had done this to her brought to justice and to help others in the future. Before she passed away Judy recorded a deposition describing the horrific attack. This was the first time in US criminal history where a victim had given testimony at their own murder trial. Today’s true crime case takes us to 22nd August 2005 when Onondaga County sheriff's department in the state of New York received the following call from a woman called Stacey Castor who was concerned about her husband who she said had locked himself in their bedroom and was refusing to come out. Police arrived at the couple’s home in the village of Liverpool and, after forcing the door, found 48 year old David Castor dead, sprawled over his bed having apparently ended his own life by drinking anti-freeze. Stacey put in quite the performance, screaming when she found out her husband had passed away but it was all an act. Stacey had murdered David and this was not the first time she had killed she had poisoned her first husband Michael Wallace, again with anti-freeze, who had died just 5 years earlier. However, this may not have been the only person she killed before this point, there are suspicions that she also killer her own father in 2002. With regards to the murder of David, the Police were suspicious and, when the walls started closing in on Stacey, this devil in human form, tried to killer her own daughter and frame her for both murders. The subject of today’s true crime case Terry Lee Hurst was a vulnerable 17 year old who had learning difficulties but despite his short life being characterised by constant bullying he was a happy and polite young man who just wanted to be accepted by others. So when a person called Rebecca Peeters, who was just 15 years old, invited him to a camping trip by the Broomhead Reservoir an area outside the picturesque village of Bolsterstone in South Yorkshire in the UK. They pair were also joined by 2 other teenagers John Sawdon and Jermaine James, both 17 years old. After setting up camp on the evening of 19th July 2004 Rebecca, John and Jermaine left the site returning a few hours later, drunk and armed with 2 5 foot long farming scythes they had stolen from a local church. They then attacked Terry with the scythes subjecting him to a horrific ordeal resulting in over 60 horrific injuries to his body including his jaw being broken so severely it was hanging open. This was a protracted and sustained attack with Terry being allowed to run and then being hunted like an animal so the attack could continue. When his body was found the next day, one of the scythes was found embedded in his neck. In the hours after the murder the trio were sat at home laughing about what they had done. They did not showed remorse for their behaviour or gave a reason for this act of senseless violence. The subject of today’s true crime case is Peter Connelly, known in the media as baby P whose short life came to an end on 3 August 2007 he was just 17 months old. The subject of today’s true crime case Lawrence Bittaker and Roy Norris kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered five young women in the space of just 5 months in 1979 in the state of California. They were not content with just killing these women, they tortured them with pliers, ice picks and sledgehammers leading to them being called the toolbox killers. They also took pictures of their victims during their agony and audio recorded them begging for their lives. In the case of their last victim, 16 year old Shirley Lynette Ledford a partial transcript of her rape and torture has been released and it is truly horrifying. The subject of today’s true crime case is Jadd Brooker is a truly evil man, his life was utterly devoted to the abuse of children by the time of his eventual arrest in 2020 he had amassed 4.5 million images showing children, including babies being raped, tortured and degraded. In the space of just 4 years Brooker himself had victimised at least 96 children around the world including exploiting them online all for his own gratification. However, as if this was not horrific enough, Brooker, who suffered from HIV, molested children in the real world in order to specifically infect them with this incurable condition, with him bragging about this and sharing pictures of this abuse online with a network of paedophiles that spanned continents. Jadd Brooker is a remorseless, child predator whose offending resulting in at least one child taking their own life. He is now considered one of Australia’s worst paedophiles. Today’s true crime case takes us to 9th April 2023, Easter Sunday when a 21 year old woman called Ellie Baxter went to her parents house at 18 Victory Road in the town of West Mersea in the County of Essex in the United Kingdom. She was worried because she had heard from Stephen Baxter or his wife Carol for around 36 hours which was which was very unusual. Ellie was concerned and using a hammer she borrowed from a neighbour she broke in and found her parents dead sitting in their armchairs in the conservatory. Ellie was hysterical and called a family friend, 33 year old Luke D’Wit who lived just minutes away who rushed to the scene. She called 999 but was unable to speak and so D’Wit took over. However, rather than being a caring family friend, Luke D’Wit was a manipulative, cold and calculating killer who had murdered Stephen and Carol. He had been drugging, gaslighting and manipulating the couple for 2 years including creating fake online profiles intending to cut the pair off from their family. Finally, he had administered a fatal dose of Fentanyl to the couple, likely laced in drinks he served them. Police recovered evidenced to indicate that D’Wit had an app on his phone which he had connected to a camera in the house which he used to watch the couple die. Today’s true crime case takes us to the early hours of October 4th, 2009 when 42 year old Kimberly Cates was in bed asleep with her 11 year old daughter Jamie at their home in the town of Mont Vernon in the state of New Hampshire in the United States. This was a place where both should have been secure and safe. Little did they know that 4 depraved young men had chosen their home at random to break in to and they were intending to kill anyone present as an initiation into a club called the Disciples of Destruction created by the leader of the group 17 year old Steven Spader. Spader later described himself as “the most sick and twisted person you’ll ever meet.'. Spader and his right-hand man 19 year old Christopher Gribble attacked Kimberley and Jamie. Kimberley was hacked to death with a machete and Jamie was brutally attacked but, despite suffering horrific injuries survived. The group were arrested almost immediately, and the nation was shocked by the age of the perpetrators, the savagery of their crimes and their utter remorselessness.
