On Friday 22nd July 2022 23 year old Kiena Dawes was caught of camera walking to her friends house carrying her 9 month old daughter. Kiena let herself in whilst her friend was in the shower and after a brief time she left leaving her daughter and her mobile phone in the property. Kiena then drove herself to near the town of Garstang in Lancashire and walked in front of a train, killing herself instantly. On Kiena’s phone was a detailed explanation for why she had taken the decision to end her life, she had been subjected to 2 and a half years of horrific domestic abuse at the hands of her psychopathic partner Ryan Wellings, including repeated physical violence and psychological torture including being threatened with having her teeth drilled out and acid thrown on her. In April 2016 42 year old Adrian Greenwood was a rare book dealer living in Oxford. His home was filled with novels, which were worth a fortune and this included a first edition of The Wind in the Willows valued at £50,000. Adrian’s eBay listing to sell this novel had been seen by a desperate man called Michael Danaher, an individual who was unemployed and heavily in debt and, despite having no previous criminal history, had decided to rob, kidnap and kill the rich and famous and Adrian was firmly in his cross hairs. Michael Danaher killed Adrian in a savage knife attack but this case is memorable due to the sheer incompetent and stupidity of Danaher including taking a selfie of himself in broad day light just after the murder with blood on his face. At around 8.25pm on Tuesday 1st November 2022 Officers from Police Scotland forced entry to a flat on Greendykes Road in Edinburgh acting on a missing person report for a 67 year old man called Desmond Rowlings. Little did the Officers know they were about to uncover one of the most heinous and savage crimes in recent Scottish history. The flat was splattered in blood which covered the walls and ceilings and in the living room were the mutilated remains of Desmond was found. He had been tortured with knives and hammers, his body had been burnt and parts of his ears and nose having been cut off and taken away by his killers as a sick trophy. To the officer’s shock this was not the end of the horror, in the bathroom they found the body of another man, 37 year old Derek Johnston, he had also been tortured and nails had been driven into both of his eyes. Soon the perpetrators of these horrific crimes were apprehended, father and son Ian and Dean MacLeod a pair of deranged psychopaths who had planned the execution of these 2 men and lured them to their deaths. On the morning of Tuesday 23rd August 2022 a man called Jeffrey Llewellyn called South Wales Police to report that his neighbour, Brian Whitelock, was missing from his home in Tanycoed road in Swansea. Moments later, Jeffrey was back on the phone to report a terrifying site when he was confronted by Brian who suddenly emerged from a house across the street, the home of 71 year old Wendy Buckney. Brian was covered in blood telling Jeffrey that he had murdered Wendy. Wendy was found in her home and she had suffered a horrific death, with her body being covered in over 70 injuries. Brian Whitelock told the Police that he had tortured Wendy and “she begged me to stop”. At just after 2am on Thursday 10th August 2023 a man called Urfan Sharif called Surrey Police from Islamabad the capital of Pakistan which would trigger the start of a truly horrific case. Urfan said that he had killed his daughter and when Police went to the home he had lived in in the UK, 6 Hammond Rd in the town of Woking in Surrey, they found the body of 10 year old Sara Sharif in her bed. Sara’s smiling photos hid years of violence and abuse she had suffered not only at the hands of Urfan but also his wife, Beinash Batool with both cowards fleeing the Country where they hid for over a month trying to escape their fate before eventually returning to the UK to face justice. At around 1pm on Monday 24th February 2020 a 42 year old woman called Sarah Boone made a 911 call in Orange County, Florida reporting that her boyfriend was dead. Officers attended and found 42 year old Jorge Torres dead lying next to a suitcase. The situation was bizarre from the start, Sarah claimed that she had zipped Jorge inside the suitcase while they were playing a drunken game of hide-and-seek, she then fell sleep. When she woke up hours later Jorge had suffocated to death. However, the Police recovered 2 videos of Sarah filming Jorge whilst he was trapped in the case, taunting him as he begged to be let out. Today’s true crime case takes us to the early hours of Monday 25th April 2011 firefighters were called to a blaze at a house in Redhill a small village in Nottinghamshire. Luckily most of the occupants had managed to escape including 14 year old Daniel Bartlam who, for a short time was seen as a hero by his neighbours, as he had saved his younger brother and the family dog from the inferno. However, the children’s mother Jackie was not so lucky and her body was recovered from the flames. It was found that she was dead before the fire started having been beaten to death with a hammer. Today’s true crime case takes us back to July 2010 when 37 year old Raoul Moat was released from prison and he was looking for revenge. This 6ft 3 17stone man who had a history of violence against woman and children was determined to punish his ex girlfriend Samantha Stobbart for refusing to continue to be his punching bag by killing her and her new partner Chris Brown. Within 48 hours of his release, Chris was shot dead and Samantha was seriously injured. Moat contacted 999 to declare war on the Police and then shot PC David Rathband in his patrol car, blinding him. After a week long manhunt the life of Raoul Moat ended in a field outside the town of Rothbury in Northumberland. On Friday 11th May 2018 a 911 called was made reporting that a Cimarron Thomas had shot herself in the head at her home in the town of Bruceton Mills in West Virginia. She was just 12 years old. Her death devastated her family who had absolutely no idea why this little girl would end her own life. Her father Ben could not come to terms with her death and, 18 months after losing his daughter, he also took his own life. Little did anyone know that both deaths were caused by a man called Alexander McCartney who was half a world away in Northern Ireland. From here, he had, for years, targeted children on line blackmailing them into committing horrific sexual acts on themselves, family members and animals. At approximately 11pm on Wednesday 22nd May 2013 a woman called Pearl Fernandez made a call to 911 to report that her 8 year old son Gabriel wasn’t breathing. Paramedics raced to the address in the 200 block of East Avenue Q-10 in Palmdale and found Gabriel unresponsible and naked lying on the floor. It was clear immediately that this little boy had been savagely beaten. Pearl and her partner Isauro Aguirre seemed entirely unconcerned about the welfare of Garbiel and were more interested in getting their stories straight and demonizing this child. Gabriel never regained consciousness and died 2 days later.
