Police in Miami Beach responded to a park after a concerned witness found a 5-year-old boy alone on a playground, crying and saying his mother sometimes left him there as punishment. Police in Davenport, Iowa staged an undercover operation inside a bookstore after a 37-year-old man who had been chatting online for months with someone he believed was a 14-year-old girl agreed to meet in person, only to discover the “teen” was actually an undercover officer. Adam Christopher Davis was arrested in the parking lot, accused of grooming, enticing, and sexually exploiting a minor after investigators say he requested explicit photos and discussed sexual acts, with additional evidence recovered from his van. Three months later he pleaded guilty to enticement of a minor under 16 and grooming, and in February 2026 a judge sentenced him to five years in prison. In Albuquerque, 60-year-old grandfather Larry Norsworthy was found dead in his apartment in April 2023, initially ruled an unattended death before evidence of robbery and blunt force trauma led investigators to reclassify it as a homicide in 2024. Detectives uncovered that Jasmine Trujillo, whom Larry had taken in, and her boyfriend Jarrett Chacon allegedly plotted to beat and rob him after he changed his banking passwords, with Trujillo later admitting Chacon carried out the fatal attack. An Ohio judge delivered a shocking verdict in the case of Amish mother Ruth Miller, who admitted to drowning her 4-year-old son at Atwood Lake and driving a golf cart carrying her other children into the water during what authorities described as a religious episode.
