Around 3:40 AM on a late August morning in 2020, a resident in a quiet suburban neighborhood woke to the sound of shouting. Outside, on the street across from his home, a heated argument had broken out between a young man and woman—both in their early twenties. As he approached his window to see what was happening, the shouting escalated into panicked screams for help. In the front yard of a nearby home, the man was angrily demanding something back from the woman while dumping the contents of her purse across the road. The argument spiraled into rage within seconds.
