On March 4th, 2022, multiple 9-1-1 calls flooded a police department in New Mexico, reporting gunshots in the back alley of a local diner. Witnesses described chaos unfolding behind the restaurant—something that sounded more like a late-night brawl than an ordinary evening shift. When officers arrived, they discovered a horrifying scene. A 16-year-old boy was lying on the pavement, bleeding from a gunshot wound. An undercover sting dubbed “Operation Naughty or Nice” targeted online solicitation and human trafficking in Stanley, North Dakota, using officers posing as escorts to lure alleged buyers to a hotel room. Once the men arrived expecting to pay for sex, officers moved in and arrested or cited them, ultimately leading to 24 arrests from people across different professions, including a Customs and Border Protection employee.
