A South Carolina family has filed a lawsuit against Anderson School District and two other organizations, alleging negligence and failure to protect a student from years of grooming and sexual misconduct by a former teacher. The suit claims that Nicole Callaham exploited her position to sign the victim out of school and supervise his activities, starting when he was 14 and continuing for at least two years. A 19-year-old Ohio woman, Brooke Devinney, repeatedly suffered violent abuse from her boyfriend Devon Blair, who was already awaiting sentencing for a prior assault on her when she reported another attack to police. Just days later, Blair returned to her home and brutally beat her to death, also killing their 14-week-old unborn child, before fleeing and being captured after a neighborhood search. Blair ultimately pleaded guilty to multiple charges, received more than 50 years in prison with no chance for early release, and will not be eligible for release until 2072. An 18-year-old pregnant woman, Kailyn Fiengo, was found shot to death in her car — and investigators quickly discovered the alleged killer was the father of her unborn child, 21-year-old Donovan Faison. Detectives say Faison murdered her after learning she was pregnant and didn’t want another baby, especially with someone who wasn’t his girlfriend.
