In Beech Grove, police chase down a man who fled but he seems more worried about the “cold” than facing charges. Richland County deputies investigate a woman staggering around a parking lot, only to have her take off. Also, Richland County deputies ended a pursuit with assistance from a deer. In Beech Grove, a passenger decides to get behind the wheel and take off mid-traffic stop. In Berkeley County, deputies attempt to catch up to a vehicle going 120 mph, leading to a dangerous explosion. In Volusia County, Deputies use sticks and a PIT maneuver to catch a carjacking suspect. A woman accused former NBA star Iman Shumpert of dragging and hitting her after a confrontation over alleged cheating, prompting police to respond to his Georgia home. Officers interviewed Shumpert, the woman, and a witness who said Shumpert only grabbed her wrist to escort her out after she refused to leave, and police noted she had no visible injuries. After determining no crime occurred, authorities filed no charges, and Shumpert later stated the woman had damaged property and repeatedly refused to leave before being escorted out. Police in Tallahassee arrested Jermell Jones in July while he was dressed in a Chuck E. Cheese costume, after he was accused of stealing a customer’s debit card and making fraudulent purchases around town. Bodycam footage of the arrest, which happened in front of children at the entertainment center, was just released by Tallahassee police. Sarah Logan, a 35-year-old teacher at North River Christian Academy in Alabama, has been arrested and charged with having a sexual relationship with an underage female student.
