Sixteen-year-old Timothy Hudson has been indicted as an adult on federal charges of first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse in the death of his stepsister, Anna Kepner. Authorities say the alleged assault and killing occurred aboard a Carnival Cruise in international waters in November 2025, with the medical examiner ruling her death a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. A 69-year-old New Mexico woman, Ernestina Lucero, was reported missing by her family, but police soon zeroed in on her son, Leroy Vallejos, after he gave inconsistent stories and neighbors reported strange behavior and recent fights between the two. When officers conducted a welfare check at the home, they made a horrifying discovery: Lucero’s partially dismembered remains hidden inside a chest freezer. Vallejos was arrested and later confessed to strangling his mother, claiming bizarre beliefs involving witchcraft and saying he delayed turning himself in because he was worried about his dogs.
