A dispute between roommates in a Michigan group home escalated into a brutal beating after a late-night argument over missing Taco Bell, leaving 72-year-old Dale Mitchell fatally injured. Police say Mark Newsome, who was initially uninvolved, was pulled into the conflict and ultimately attacked Mitchell, later claiming self-defense amid ongoing tensions and alleged prior aggression in the home. Newsome was arrested, later pleaded no contest to manslaughter, and was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in prison for what the judge called an incredibly senseless crime. A former Gettysburg mayor, Chad-Allen Carr, was arrested in Texas after resigning amid allegations he groomed and sexually exploited a minor he met through the local theater community. Prosecutors say the abuse began with grooming when the victim was a child and escalated into explicit material and sexual misconduct, leading to multiple felony charges. After posting bail and leaving Pennsylvania, Carr was re-arrested as additional alleged victims came forward, and he now faces expanded charges and extradition back to Pennsylvania. Brian Hooker has been released from custody in the Bahamas, but his wife Lynette remains missing after he claims she fell overboard from their dinghy during a nighttime trip. Authorities have not filed charges but say the investigation is ongoing, as questions mount over inconsistencies in Hooker’s account and allegations about their relationship. Despite the scrutiny, Hooker insists he will keep searching for Lynette, whose disappearance remains a mystery. A 20-year-old Florida State University student, Elizabeth “Ellie” Sims, was struck and killed by a car while walking through a crosswalk on campus, as the driver fled the scene and left her dying in the street. Despite conflicting witness descriptions, police located 18-year-old Willis Trueblood Jr. and his damaged vehicle within hours, and he admitted he panicked and drove away after the crash. He later pleaded no contest to leaving the scene of a deadly crash and was sentenced to eight years in prison, with a mandatory minimum of four years. Dayton Webber, a quad-amputee and former inspirational athlete turned professional cornhole player, has been indicted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Bradrick Wells in Maryland. Investigators say Webber shot Wells during an argument inside a car, fled the scene, and allegedly dumped his body before being arrested more than 100 miles away. While prosecutors say the shooting is not in dispute, Webber’s attorney claims it was self-defense, framing the case as “kill or be killed” as he now faces the possibility of life in prison. Brian Hooker was released from police custody in the Bahamas without charges after being held in connection to the disappearance of his wife, Lynette Hooker, who remains missing. In recorded conversations prior to his arrest, Brian claimed Lynette fell from their dinghy during rough conditions at sea, describing a chaotic series of events that left him unable to reach or rescue her.
