In 2015, Judy Malinowski, a 31-year-old battling cancer and opiate addiction, was severely burned by her abusive partner, Michael Slager, after an argument at a petrol station. Slager doused her in petrol and set her on fire, captured on camera. On October 4, 2009, 42-year-old Kimberly Cates and her 11-year-old daughter Jamie were attacked at their New Hampshire home by four men, including 17-year-old Steven Spader, leader of the Disciples of Destruction. On April 3, 2010, John Maden lured 12-year-old Tia Rigg to his Manchester home, where he raped, tortured, and murdered her. On 26 June 2022, Jordan McSweeney, a repeat offender with a history of violence, attacked Zara Aleena, a 35-year-old solicitor, in Ilford, UK.
