In November 2010, an Ohio woman, her son, and her friend seemingly vanished from their home. In the process, a 13-year-old was kidnapped. Sarah Maynard was held captive in a leaf-filled basement for four days until she was rescued during a police raid. An Arkansas mom, Lacey Lashley, admitted to giving her teenage daughter THC gummies over several months, claiming she was trying to help her sleep, after a tip to authorities and a positive drug test sparked an investigation. Detectives say the situation escalated into repeated use, possible dependency, and access to alcohol, raising serious concerns about substance abuse and the teen’s well-being. Lashley was ultimately charged and later sentenced to a suspended 12-month sentence, avoiding a felony conviction but still facing legal consequences for endangering her child.
