A 911 call from a tipster who wanted to remain anonymous led police to the discovery of the mummified remains of Alivia Hobbs-Jordan, 7, on June 25, 2023. Alivia's body was strapped into a stroller and hidden inside a closet at an apartment in Dekalb County. Alivia's mother, Alondra Hobbs, pleaded guilty earlier this year to several felony charges including malice murder and felony murder in Alivia's death. Alivia had cerebral palsy and Alondra had never sought treatment for her condition. Two men were arrested at the same Georgia Walmart for allegedly recording videos up women’s skirts just weeks apart. Police say the first suspect, 24-year-old Jae Ross, was already banned from the store for doing the same thing last year, while the second man, Tyreece Mattress, was later caught on surveillance allegedly attempting the same crime. Officers with the Winter Springs Police Department responded to a 911 call on June 5, 2024, in which the caller said she had shot someone in the head. When officers arrived, 39-year-old Laurie Adams surrendered without resistance and officers found 51-year-old Adel Tawfeek on the back porch with a gunshot wound to the head. Adams told investigators she and Tawfeek got into a fight after he threatened the couple's child, who has autism. She said Tawfeek shoved her against a wall, then went to the back porch with a beer, after which she waited about 10 minutes, retrieved a firearm belonging to Tawfeek from inside the house, and shot him in the head. Alyssa Smith believed she would receive a 90-day sentence in jail and probation for the death of her 6-month-old son, Royal Bates. Royal was attacked and killed by a pit bull mix in April 2024. Nearly a year later, Smith and Royal's father, Blake Bates, were charged in connection with his death. Now both have pleaded guilty, and the judge slapped Smith which a much longer sentence after her sister told the judge about her lack of care and remorse when it came to her children.
