A Texas mother, Chelsea Berg, and her boyfriend, Christopher Alexander, are facing serious charges after Berg’s 3-year-old son, Dawson Zamora, was hospitalized with devastating injuries police say were consistent with severe abuse. Alexander allegedly claimed Dawson “fell,” but doctors found extensive bruising, brain bleeding, and other trauma, leading to his arrest for injury to a child and related charges. Christopher Scholtes planned to go to trial to fight a first-degree murder charge in the July 2024 death of his daughter, Parker. Alyssa Wiest, a 26-year-old microbiologist from Pennsylvania, was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend, Michael Dutkiewicz, after she tried to end their relationship. A Florida woman, Brittany Holbrook, claimed she shot her boyfriend, Tyler Nulisch, in self-defense after he allegedly tried to strangle her during a night of drinking. However, investigators found no signs of strangulation on Holbrook, and a witness reported hearing Tyler say, “That b*tch shot me in the back,” before he died. Arizona man Taton Dorfman was sentenced to 16 years in prison for murdering his girlfriend, Hannah Rogers, and her dog before calling his ex on FaceTime to brag about the killing. Police say Dorfman shot Rogers in the head inside her Marana home, then barricaded himself for hours before surrendering. Originally charged with first-degree murder, he was ultimately convicted of second-degree murder and received the maximum sentence allowed under the circumstances.
