Today’s true crime case takes us to London a city of culture, education, diversity and opportunities which draws people from all around the world. Two people who were drawn to the opportunities in London were Laurent Bonomo and Gabriel Ferez both 23 years old and biochemistry students from France who, in June 2009, were on a short research placement in the UK. However, despite only being in London for a short time, neither man would return home and the savagery of their deaths on 29th June 2009 would resonate throughout the Country. Their killer, Daniel Sonnex was an extremely dangerous young man who murdered these 2 innocent young men in horrific fashion, stabbing them, in total, almost 250 times before setting their bodies on fire leaving a crime scene which shocked even the most hardened detectives. Today’s true crime case is about Craig Price, known as he Slasher of Warwick" who butchered 4 people in two acts of unspeakable violence in 1987 and 1989 when he was just 13 and 15 years old making him, it is reported, the youngest convicted serial killer in US history. This is a horrifying case, not just because of the savagery of the crimes which included him butchering 2 children aged just 8 and 10 years old but also his remorselessness and the danger Price continues to pose until this very day. Today’s true crime case is about Ed Gein, known as the Butcher of Plainfield, who was a deeply disturbed man who in 1954 and 1957 killed 2 local women, Mary Hogan and Bernice Worden, in the village of Plainfield in the state of Wisconsin although he likely killed at least 3 and maybe more making him a serial killer. However, it is not just the fact that he killed 2 people which has led to him being the inspiration of some of the most famous characters in horror including Norman Bates from Psycho, Leatherface from the Texas chainsaw massacre and Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs. It was what he did to his victims, his nocturnal actives and the content of his home which as meant that the name Gein has gone down in infamy. Today’s true crime case takes us to August 1999 when Tina Nash met Shane Jenkin, both aged in their late teens or early 20s. Tina was warned from speaking to Jenkin with others saying he was a dangerous man and well known in and around various towns in Cornwall a county in the UK including the fact he had served prison sentence for stamping on a man’s head. However, 10 years later the 2 met again at a party and Tina ignored the warnings of others and fell for the superficial charm of a violent, psychopathic domestic abuser. Jenkin subjected Tina to a horrifying ordeal over the next 20 months repeatedly beating and abusing her and on April 21, 2011 he subjected her to one last horrific ordeal which lasted 12 hours, during which time, he gouged her eyes with his thumbs with such force that he destroyed the sight in her right eye and her left eye ended up dangling out of her socket resting on her cheek leaving her completely blind. Today’s true crime case is about Pee wee Gaskins who was a serial murderer, rapist, hit man and unapologetic racist active In South Carolina in the US between the 1950s and the 1980s. He was an extremely dangerous remorseless career criminal who killed at least 15 people but claimed to have ended the lives of over 100. He took great satisfaction in using different methods to kill his victims and had no qualms about who he raped and killed with his youngest rape and murder victim being just 2 years old. He killed for profit, for revenge or simply for the pure joy of killing and no environment could stop Gaskins from murdering people with his last victim being a prisoner he blew up with C4 explosive whilst he was serving multiple life sentences. Today’s true crime case is about Lucy Letby a 33 year old woman who worked as a registered nurse in the neonatal unit at the Countess of Chester Hospital from 2011 to 2016, which offers high dependency care for babies who are often extremely unwell including those who were born prematurely. The children here are the most vulnerable, the most in need to love, professional care and protection with the staff who work in this unit being tasked with one of the greatest responsibilities in the entire medical field. Letby utterly abused this trust and, in the space of just 12 months, murdered 7 children and attempted to murder 6 others with most of her victims being days, or in some cases, hours old. This is a shocking case which has been in the newspapers since her first arrest in July 2018 but was only at her trial that the true scale of Letby’s horrific crimes and her completely inhuman behaviour were laid bare showing that she is an extremely dangerous, calculating and depraved woman who has now been proved to be a serial killer and one of the worst child killers in UK history. Today’s true crime case is about Stephen Nicholson a 24 years old and an extremely dangerous man who had a history of violence and targeting underage girls to sexually abuse. This included him abusing one girl when he was 18 and she was 14. However, the age of the children he targeted appeared to decrease as he got older and one of these Lucy McHugh, a vulnerable 13 year old girl who Nicholson lived with, he had been raping since she was 12 years old. Nicholson was terrified that Lucy would reveal his abuse to the authorities and so he planned her death and, on 25th July 2018, he lured her to an Outdoor Sports Centre in the city of Southampton in the UK and stabbed her over 20 times before fleeing the scene. This cases is horrific not just because it involves the slaughter of an innocent 13 year old but it was clear that this didn’t have to happen, Nicholson should have been safely behind bars long before he murdered Lucy or at the very least as far away from her as possible. However, a combination of staggering professional failings and, frankly, horrifyingly neglectful parenting meant that this dangerous predatory was free to prowl the streets. Add to this the failure of a big tech company to release potentially key evidence to the Police to assist in their investigation it is clear that Lucy was failed throughout her life and even after her death. Today’s true crime case takes us to 15th July 1992 when 23 year old Rachel Nickell was walking with her two-year-old son in Wimbledon common in London. She was then attacked in a frenzy being stabbed almost 50 times and sexually assaulted with her 2 year old being found trying to wake his mother up. It was a crime that shocked the nation and Rachel’s face is one of the most recognised victim photographs in recent criminal history. The Police completely botched the investigation putting all their resources into forcing a confession from a completely innocent man, Colin Stagg who was vilified in the press. Instead, the real killer, Robert Napper, an extremely disturbed and dangerous man as well as a serial rapist was free to walk the streets and, in 1993, he committed a truly horrific double murder of a mother and her daughter before he was finally caught. Today’s true crime case takes us to May 26, 2013 when 23 year old Jamie Reynolds lured his friend 17 year old Georgia Williams to his home on Avondale Road in the town of Wellington in the County of Shropshire in the UK under the pretence of her helping him with a photo shoot so that he could try to become a professional photographer. Georgia did not know that she had walked into a trap set by a deviant extremely dangerous sexual sadist who had spent years fantasising about hanging a girl and then having sex with her dead body. Georgie agreed to a photo with a noose round her neck not knowing the set up was real and Reynolds kicked away what she was standing on and watched her slowly strangle to death in front him before violating her body. Reynolds had planned this day in great detail for months and the Police recovered a story that he had written about Georgia and what he was going to do to her which included the line: “I can’t wait to see you dance for me. I like my girls dead”. At his sentencing, it was pointed out that Reynolds was a serial killer in the making, a man who had been stopped before he ended the lives of others, but a serious case review showed the incompetence of various agencies and the fact that the warning flags were obvious for years but no one acted on them. Today’s true crime case takes us to February 2005 when Officers from Gloucestershire Police raided a property in the town of Tewkesbury acting on information that 3 children had been abused by the homeowner. The property was in squalor, not fit for anyone to live in and especially not children but this is where sadistic Eunice Spry abused 3 vulnerable children over the course of almost 20 years during which time she made them eat their own excrement and rammed sticks down the children’s throats amongst many other horrific acts of complete degradation. At the time, it was considered the worst case of child abuse in the UK. Spry has never shown any remorse for the destruction of these’ children’s lives and the lifelong trauma she caused them which led one of her victims to take their own life. Unfortunately, a serious case review showed a litany of errors from professionals whose sole job it was to ensure the welfare of children. Today’s true crime case takes us to February 20th 2015 when Avon and Somerset Police in the UK received a phone call from the family of Becky Watts, who was just 16, saying that she had gone missing. Within hours an intense search was started and desperate appeals were made by her family for information. However, by this point Becky was already dead, she had been murdered and dismembered by her stepbrother, Nathan Matthews, a paedophile who had a fixation on petite teenage girls. As if killing her was not bad enough she had been dismembered and the Police captured him buying the circular saw he used for this sickening task. But he was not alone in his crime, he was helped by his girlfriend Shauna Hoare. Today’s true crime case takes us to 12.49am on 15th January 2018 when a call was made to 999 by 21 year old Louise Porton claiming that her daughter Lexi, aged just 3, had stopped breathing. Paramedics attended and found that Lexi was dead and had passed away hours before. 18 days later Porton called 999 again reporting that he had other daughter, Scarlett, had also stopped breathing, she was pronounced dead when the ambulance arrived, she was just 17 months old. Louise Porton had ended the lives of both children. Porton is an evil self-obsessed woman utterly without consciousness and remorse who, whilst Lexi was fighting for her life during an unsuccessful attempt to kill her, was in the hospital toilet sending topless photos of herself to men and, when this child died, she was heard laughing at the funeral home. She also begged men for money to drive Scarlett to the hospital knowing she was already dead. Her crimes, callousness and likely motivation for murdering her own children is truly sickening and I have no doubt will appal you.
