Melvin Rees was an American serial killer known as the "Sex Beast" who committed a series of murders in the late 1950s. His crimes involved the violent murders and assaults of women in the Washington, D.C., area and along the U.S. Route 301 corridor in Virginia and Maryland. His most infamous crime was the murder of the Jackson family in 1959, which included the killing of two young girls, their mother, and their grandmother. Rees's criminal activities began to unfold when a musician friend accidentally led investigators to evidence linking Rees to the crimes. He was eventually captured in 1960.
